Vitamins are nice to have. You might take one. You won't notice if you skip a day, and you won't panic at 2am hunting for one.
Painkillers are different. When you're in pain, you'll cross town in the rain to get one, and you'll pay almost anything.
Most products fail because they're vitamins: pleasant, clever, and good for you, but easy to ignore. The ones that win solve a problem sharp enough that the user feels its absence.
The test isn't whether people say they like it. It's whether they'd be upset if you took it away. Liking is cheap. Missing is the real signal of value.
The lesson scales past products. The most valuable thing you can be to a team, a company, or a person isn't pleasant to have around. It's painful to lose.
